We recently told you about “graticons,” Well, here’s a new one a reader sent:

..like this one, () ,it is mean to resemble/symbolize two hands, facing each other palm to palm, in gassho.
Not bad, not bad.

First off, sorry for the shoddy photograph. I got a new camera recently and while it’s amazing, I, apparently am not.
Anyway — just wanted to give you a shot from Ethan Nichtern’s appearance at New York’s Rubin Museum of Art. He was there to read from and discuss his new book, One City: A Declaration of Interdependence.
A good-sized group of people made it to the event, which was split between a sort of informal reception in the museum’s K2 Lounge, then the reading up on the 6th floor (he read the book’s incredible prologue,), and then back to the Lounge for booksignings and general cooling out. There were even particularly great-lookin’ One City shirts for sale (proceeds go to the Interdependence Project), which Ethan founded.
Keep your eye on this guy. He writes and reads and teaches like the gentlest whirlwind you’ve ever seen.
AND: if you’ve never been to the Rubin Museum, you’ve GOT to go. Amazing Buddhist/Himalayan art and the people are cool, too.
Can’t believe I hadn’t been there before. Well, it won’t be the last time, I hope!

Just back from a trip to NYC, where I found these: “Buddh-Its.”
So what are these about (besides the clunky name)? Well, they’re just what you’d gather — Post-It-styled sticky notes, but die-cut into the shape of a Buddha.
I picked them up, took a shot, and thought, “Wow! What a Dharma-Burger!” …but then… as I held them a little bit more, I found that… I… wanted them!
I resisted the urge to splurge but nonetheless was left with a nagging question:
What is happening to me?

One of our favorite reader/contributors/bloggers, Konchog Norbu
, just sent this on:
Oh lord, Hoss. I’m trying so hard to see Britney with pure view as White Tara, but…she doesn’t make it easy.
OK. We’ll admit that she doesn’t. But the Horse still maintains that we’re all responsible for the celebrity deification (and demonization) in our culture.
Check our article in response to Brit’s infamous head-shaving incident a few months back, here, for more.
And above all, thanks to Konchog Norbu!

If you saw the Daily Show bit about Bush being a bodhisattva, then you know that the current US president has reached at least some kind of enlightenment.
Well, the New York Times seems sold. Check out this headline from today!
Thanks to “Kent Brockman” for the tip.

But the things people are saying about her? TRULY awful. (I’ve always loved Sarah Silverman but my god, the things she said about Britney — and her kids! Sick.)
Maybe it’s a little naive, but if you’d like a different perspective on Britney, check out this Horse piece from a few months back, “Britney: An Appreciation.”
